I was delighted to be asked to do this judging. I did not know just how hard it would be when I accepted to do it. To see a photo (and some were very poor) and not be able to go over the dog with your hands or see it move makes it rather unfair. As we all know a super looking dog can be a very poor mover which would put him back right in the line-up, or the contrary of course. I have tried to point out what I seek in a typical WSS, but as there were so many different types "entered" it was not easy. Anyway, I enjoyed it immensely and I hope you all take it for what it is, a bit of fun.

I suppose the critiques tell why I put the male number 47 on top. There were few things I could have critizised on him too but, I see no point in looking at the minor faults on a dog of as high quality he is. I think this was fun even if I'm giving up this sport due to negative features which at least here are well outnumbering the good events. The best to you all.

Although #1 & 2 are different in type I liked them both a lot, but, I prefer head, hind angulation and less coat on #1. But this is also a very handsome dog. |

Strong clean neck that could have been a tiny bit longer. Deep brisket and a muscular body with a very typical topline ending in a well set on of tail. Nice width of second thigh and well let down hocks. I am very pleased to make him my Best Dog and BOS. |

Loin is too short and steep and he is not well angulated in front. Feet could be rounder and thicker. Good proportions. 3) Strong looking dog with excellent bone. Too much stop and too big ears, nice topline. If groomed a bit differently he would not look so upright in shoulder and short in body. Very nice in hind with a good strong second thigh, very strong nice tight feet. Well muscled. |

short hocks. 2) Sweet feminine expression. Well developed mature body. Strong legs. Good neck and topline. good proportions, well balanced. Well set on tail. A bit heavy compared with the winner which made her to loose even if she looks anatomically better. 3) Strong sturdy bitch without being course. Strikingly good and very typical feminine head with a pleasant kind expression. I liked this bitch very much with her very good conformation in all respects. She has the soft outline of a real welsh, perfect set on of tail and a strong muscular body, with grand bone and feet. Angulation in front and rear is excellent. Although she is quite a different type from my BOB winner, I definitely had her in mind when choosing "Best Bitch".

Would love to see him without his tail being held upwards which spoils his topline a bit. Excellent bone, legs and hindquarters with just the right angulation to complete the picture of a welsh made for "endurance and hard work".

coat, well laid shoulders, deep balanced body and good hind angulation. 2) Outstanding in every respect. Well balanced with correct proportions. Extremely harmonious and above all has perfect breed type. 3) Attractive welsh-man looking very smart. Would prefer him a tiny bit longer in body for his height. Pleasing head with all the right proportions although I would like a shorter ear. Strong neck, elegant topline and prefect set on of tail. Deep in brisket with moderate shoulder. Good bone, muscular hind with well let down hocks. Very pretty dog that I would prefer a bit more masculine.

Strong round ribcage and well boned feet. 3) Top class bitch, small and well made throughout. Feminine head with a lovely clean neck coming into an excellent shoulder, well sprung ribs with depth, correct length for a welsh lady. Her rear has everything width, strength, lovely arch over the loin, perfect set on of tail, and super angulation, nearly a bit too much. She is just lovely all over and I make her my Best Bitch and also Best of Breed.

tail. 3)This is also a delightful quality bitch with an overall true welsh character. The only little thing I would like to alter is the length of the ear. Otherwise she has a super strong body, lovely shoulder placement. Good reach of neck, grand topline and set on of tail. Good bone and feet. Well let down hocks. She was a big threat to number one.

looks as is was older and oldfashioned which for me is not at all a negative feature.
Rather the other way around. Weak pastern and too big ears Very nice topline and softness
all around. Good round ribcage and well boned legs, well set tail. 3)Pleasant welsh lady with a lovely roundness of body and soft outline. She is quite different from number 3, but I like her alot. I would prefer a bit more depth of lower jaw. A higher set and much smaller ear. Long strong neck floating into a lovely shoulder and superbly sprung ribs. Good length of body with plenty of muscle. Ample bone and well let down hocks.
